I was just saying with the way most of their products are right now black just doesn’t seem to fit with it. The black laptop is not bad its just not the look that apple seems to be going with most of their products.
to be completely sober however, jennifer makes a very good point. You have to admit, the ‘mac’ style is more of a new thing dating back to I’d say early ‘00 or just before. Predating that you have more of a bulky square style, including the blackish powerbook you showed. Macs are KNOWN to be white, white is THE color of apple. When they released the black ipod it’s like “ok cool.. it’s an ipod” but I completely agree with jenn that the black macbook seems just outside of bounds.
agreed that white has been the standard color of apple for a while if not throughout the entire history of apple, ‘mac’ however is not early an ‘00 style though since it was released in ‘84. What you’re refering too I belive is the style defined by the 2nd coming of Jobs (his return to the company in 97 after being gone since 85) which typically is what set motion to the whole sleek less bulky mac movement.
From my standpoint I kinda expected that they’d come out with a black as an ‘option’ for other products as soon as they made black an option for the for the iPod and especially since it did so well in sales. It seems to be that the iPod is driving apple in many ways these days considering its selling power. So with that said I don’t really think it’s outside of bounds of anything but rather more than ever in line with apple’s current branding strategy. I’m not totally sold though that the black option will make it’s way to the Pro Macbook lines since on that level the consumer is more about performance/features than about looks. I wouldn’t be suprised though if the black does well on the macbook line that the option will see its way to the iMac line.
Speaking of apple product lines where’s the mac desktop (g5 desktop replacment)? At this point there going to have to give some pretty good incentive to get the desktop because the iMac is just as good as the macbookpro for a much lower price point so for $1000 more for a solid desktop I’d think you’d be getting a dual chip duo core (quad) setup and a much better graphics card. Thoughts?
jon is going to kill you for this tagline
Hopefully.
George Bush would get the white one.
cause there better?
no, he hates black ones
i’m kinda into the black.
Maybe they’ll have the 17″ in black soon.
dude… you’re sick
What can I say I like the blacks.
I don’t know about the black laptops. They don’t seem like they are very mac-ish.
Ahem powerbooks were blackish before they were ever silver/white

Ooooo, burnedddd.
*ahem*
#4B423B != #000000
eh point is macs were dark before they were light.
and to my credit I did say “blackish” not black (#000)
black first eh?

sorry…I was talking about powerbooks not mac’s in general.
“Ahem powerbooks were blackish before they were ever silver/white”
However if want to get technical the first apple product was wood so were all wrong.
Anyways macs have come in all sorts of colors over the years.

Duuudee, disagree with her now while you can.
In 8 days you won’t have the option!

Whipah!

I don’t think I’m _that_ kinky jon
but we’ll see
Woooo, Dirty Dutch strikes again!
So far in this post we have references to 17′ black things that Tim lusts for and Jon openly declaring that he may be into pain.
This thread delivers.
