I was discussing this with my Dad on Thursday and he was talking about the fact that the reason WHY Twitter was so popular was that it didn't take satellite dishes to communicate with the world so they were able to hide from the police so much more effectively.

It was sad to know that they are taking down the cell service as well.

I think that it's important for the readers to wrap their head around the implications of "the net" in this story. If you've never seen any Ghost in the Shell episodes or movies, I highly encourage it. The point Ghost brings up, is that as humans become closer and closer because of digital communication, we become more of a hive-mind of information. But opposite from a true hive-mind, we retain our individuality, but now we know _everything_. So, seeing this twitter account broadcast news to anyone with an internet connection, in the face of extreme censorship, is very exciting, as it brings a net-hive-mind, closer to reality. </geekout>
